Óbidos Medieval Fair - 2013

hello there, friend!
I know what you're thinking... "where the heck are those Christmas posts you promised?"
well, I gave it a lot of thought and I came to the conclusion that whenever I promise something here, there are a series of unavoidable events that flourish into an almost sort of butterfly effect, preventing me of keeping my word.
that or I'm really awful at time management.
so, with no further ado, I will proceed with numerous posts of stuff that happened quite some time ago, because as they say in my country:
"to remember is to live"

***

ah! the Óbidos fair... what a delightful day that was.
here are some of the highlights of the day, and just that because there was about 100 pictures taken that day, or something in that ballpark.

here you can see the Castle where there's actually a type of fancy hostel if you want to visit medieval times but still be able to take a warm shower and use a clean jon.
the center part of the photo shows you our most favorite place: the bar.
since a friend of ours was participating in the Fair, the nice Friar "Tuck" in charge of the drinks made us a discount price for the entire day, so needless to say, we drank heartily.

thank you Friar Tuck!

these next photos are handmade crafts done by a very interesting Blacksmith (which I felt very attracted to and no, he was not hot at all) that oddly reminded me of Conan the Cimmerian by Robert E. only because he was big, manly, mean and super muscular... I swear my uterus shivered every time his hammer struck the half-made sword in the anvil.
uff...!

he was using the above contraption to actually parch his thirst while working.
I kid you not.

*Skav & Sarah, sitting in a throne, k-i-ss-i-n-g*

 *smile, cause you're mine*

*me and my gorgeous little Swan, Dri*

that is an hot ass!
the donkey I mean...
me and Dri were loving to pet this cute little guy, until the owner said it bit off one of her nephew's fingers off!
I never pulled my hand so faster from a cute animal before in my life.

this was part of the food court, were you could sit (if, and that's a big IF, you had any space for your butt cheeks between the multitude of people trying to do the same) and enjoy some medieval style foodies!

 yes, we even had music!
and please notice the delicious Sus Scrofa Domesticus (miss piggy) being gently cooked on a slow fire in the back... yummmm.

some of my lovely company for the day.
I really miss that guy... but sometimes life takes such unexpected turns.
I read somewhere that "you are the choices you make".
but what if someone else is making those choices for you...?

life is tricky sometimes.

 *cute little watch tower*

now, here's a really good friend of ours; the Mead Man!
I can't recall his name, mostly because every time we meet I'm very drunk or getting very drunk, but he always remembers us, from the Vagos Open Air in 2012 and 2013.

we always stayed with him chatting and eating boiled snails (don't hate, it's a cultural thing) during any bands we weren't so keen on seeing.
my little Sis has her birthday very close to the days we're at Vagos, and this nice man even offered her a big bottle of mead, which I had copious sips from, because I'm the big Sis of course.

*another Friar Tuck, giving out a battle scream, the food's cooked probably*

and now... for your medieval entertainment....
THE JOUSTING!
with a special appearance of the "Espada Lusitânia" and our friend Tomás who was so kind to offer us the tickets so we could enjoy an awesome day - for free!

they enchanted us beyond belief with their skillful swordsmanship!

there he is fighting his sword master.
I once went to one of his classes, and I must say, nothing gets your blood rushing better than invest towards someone with a training sword!
and I did it!
I was scared shitless at first, but I did it...!

*gorgeous attention to detail to better simulate olden times*

I believe it was around this area (or I could be terribly wrong) where we watched the reenactment of the Portuguese assault to a Moorish occupied castle.
they had real arrows lighted with fire, rock trowing, and loads of people in costume doing that huge production.
I feel bad that I have no pictures of that, but I think it was my lovely camera that decided to run out of battery. thank you kindly.

*I'm sexy and I know it!*

Lord of The Rings (Return of the King):

Gimli: You young rascals! A merry hunt you've led us on, and now we find you... feasting and... and *smoking.*
Pippin: We are sitting on a field of victory enjoying a few well-earned comforts.
[Merry blows a smoke ring]
Pippin: The salted pork is particularly good.
Gimli: [eagerly] Salted pork?

*cheers!!!!!*

to one of the best days of my life.
if I could turn back time, I would, just to re-live this awesome day all over again.

xoxo
