OOTD - little Swan & Hard Rock dinner of the Month

Before anything:
my dear sweet swan, I just want to say that the dinner we had together was like going back in time, months and months, when we used to hang much more often.
life gets in the way, but what I came to find is that it will never get in the way of how much we like one another.
Fabio was a true delight to meet, I can see that he really loves you and wants to be there for you come high water or hell, and needless to say that Skav also found him to be a badass guy to hang with!
I feel immense happiness for both of us, to have found joy after so many ordeals in life, and to see that like me, you are getting closer and closer to your goals.
it is true what they say: you really get what you deserve...! well, if you work hard enough for it.
I love you guys as a couple.
I feel extremely happy for you my swan.

***

hello my sweets!
it's that time of the month again!
now, you guys know that me and Skav love to go out and do loads of stuff, but there's one ritual we never miss almost every month:
the Hard Rock Caffe dinner!

*sun glasses - Vintage by Indo/ see through top - Atmosphere/ cotton coat - thrift shop/ faux leather shorts - H&M/ tennis shoes - old H&M/*

yes I know... I can't get enough of deep fried greasy delights!

this is when I feel the most happy:
a tub of beer, a huge pulled pork sandwish elegantly called "The Texan", bean dip, and huge amounts of french fries... oh yes.
compliments to the Happy Hour budget that allowed us to drink ourselves silly by half of the supposed price.

I swear to god I don't remember what this was about.
I only remember us laughing like crazy...
but we were drunk, so... yeah.

after that very lavished dinner, we went to the dark alleys of lisbon in search of some winnery dispensers in order to quench our thirst. and we found the most interesting man carrying his little mate on his shoulder:
a rat!
now, if you've been with me long enough you should know by now that I adore rodents.
this next photo may get you a bit queasy...

I warned you.

yes, that is me, kissing a full fleged Rattus Norvegicus.
you can even see the owner of the shop taking a picture (without my permission I might add) of me while doing it, because like most humans, he must feel disgusted.
if you are one of them, I only have one thing to say:

fuck you.

I know perfectly well what I'm doing (and how I'm doing it) and exactly what the risks are.
and they are much less than you might think, considering this is a domesticated rat, and not one of those little critters that came out the sewer covered with plague fleas.

this pretty much shows the type of person I am.
I honestly don't give a fuck about what others might think.
it took me years upon years to get to the place of bliss where I am, and I'm not going to let anything or anyone try to modulate me into what they think, is good, beautiful, nice or whatever.

I dance in the rain,
I laugh all day,
I walk through forests,
I hug strangers,
I see sunrises,
I make memories.

what do you do?

xoxoxo

OOTD - talks of Pan, Magick & haunted Love

magick greetings to you my friends!
today I'm going to talk about a very romantic outing with my Skav.

there's this place in mysterious, magickal Sintra where all the little fairies and friendly spirits gather;
"A Casa do Fauno", which loosely translated means, The House of Faun or Pan.
It's basically a big ancient house with some land situated up hill and very much removed from the comings and goings of all the damn tourist that swarm around the downtown and usual places for sightseeing.

*a part of they're garden dedicated to the fertility of mother earth*

on the ground floor you have the most cute and warm Medieval Pub, where they serve various meads and beers, and the occasional snacks. on the second floor you have the Magick Store, where you can find books upon books of secrets, statues and stones, jewelery of gods and witches - and of course - the sweet scent of incense prevails ever so strong.
every now and then I enjoy greatly to just pop in for a bit of spicy mead and an afternoon lunching.
there's something about Sintra that simply enchants every person that steps foot in it.
no wonder it's considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

when we leave to Norway... Sintra will be the place I miss the most.
oh well, on with the post;

 *headband - Claire's/ scarf - thrift store/ coat - H&M/ skeleton leggings - Tally Weijl/ platform shoes - Demonia*

the photo is not by a long shot anything over the top gorgeous, but since I had no idea if I would be going on to the insides of the forest, I chose to do something simple and easy.

 *black mascara - Maybelline/ black eyeliner - Kiko/ lipstick - dark plum by Avon/ eyebrows - shit I forgot*

once again the makeup is lazy at its best, but at least it seems I did some teeny-tiny effort.
*we hope*
oh yeah... I forgot to tell you guys something... remember that big announcement I had?
well, look at my photo once more.

My Skav has presented me with a gorgeous commitment ring!
well, it was actually last year after our one year anniversary... ops. sorry guys.
I just exploded when he showed me, we had a dinner and everything, it was so awesome... but the most badass thing is that this is actually a replica of the Lord of the Rings' the One ring! we just went with the sliver one because, honestly; when do you see metalheads wearing gold?

for a better look:

it never leaves my finger.
and it never will.
<3

when arriving at the place, the first thing you notice is the Faun, protecting the entrance and greeting us with a very kind face... and not prude at all. well, he must feel at home.
let's avoid the exhibitionist jokes just yet...

*view from the door, with the stage where celtic & medieval music is played, and stairs that lead to the Magick shop*

me and Skav are just in love with the decor of the entire place, we kept talking about doing something very similar in our future home.

 *my sexy Bearded man*

*view from the back with a big, lovely fire place*

I was thinking to myself:
"there's absolutely no way in heaven that I'm gonna come here yet again and not take any pictures for future decorating reference...!"

 *yours truly, happy but hungry*

*the cute menu, kinda makes you want to order something just for fun!*

 this was our lunching!
two huge Franciscan beers and Requeijão & bread with honey and pumpkin jam.
if you're wondering about the requeijão:

oh my gosh, it was so delicious. I bet my left arm most of that stuff is biologically produced.
yummy.

after that we went on a little stroll, visiting some of the places we passed by when we went on a night time haunted tour of the woods, also provided by the Casa do Fauno.
my favorite story was not one that happened in the woods or the old forsaken villages that we saw on the tour, it was actually very close to the center of the town:

**Story Time**
maybe two decades ago, there was a building that used to be a hospital, what it was before no one quite remembered, but due to being very dilapidated the city council decided to have it renovated. the men started working right away, but it was not long before they started to feel the air very heavy...
but the men continued their labor. until one of them realised that one of the walls inside the building seemed to be hollow...
using the escuse of "hey, we're just doing our job" they broke down the wall, only to discover a massive throne all in dark wood and filled with intricate details carved in the wood itself.
and sitting at the throne there was a mummified Bishop, in full gown and hat, still clinging on to his gold staff of his "savior".
the men ran insanely out the doors and refused to continue working there until the place was exorcised.
what we now think that may have happened was that when the Plague came to Sintra (and considering those times when you had to make journeys on horseback for days to get anywhere) the Bishop caught the Plague, and to not contaminate anyone he must've ordered his servants to build a wall on the door of that room.
death by immurement.
creepy.
***

this place is a bit funnier... it has a very very... gay ghost that only tries to contact men.
a couple of paranormal researcher once slept there and nothing at all occurred.
the next night the man went alone. and guess what... our "happy" ghost tried his luck!
*caption on the slate loosely translated: Trail of the Valley of Angels*

as a translator I know perfectly well we're not supposed to translate certain names of places, but I think it's rather eerie that a place where so many horrid things happen to have *that* name.
I always feel extremely attracted to this trail... it's like something is beckoning me to enter. I have perfect knowledge of my "sensitive nature" and this place exudes older, ancient beings all around.
I feel exhilarated but prudent just by standing in the entrance. when I went there I just felt secure, as if whatever was there would not hurt me. I went with respect and openness to whatever they would like to share with me. but those experiences are a bit too personal, sorry!

*I have a little Orb just next to my face!*

**Story Time**
this is more of a conglomerate of stories actually, in this valley hundreds of years ago, many Nobles went there to have picnics or to steal a kiss or two from a Dame. one couple in particular that was very wealthy used to let her small child - a little girl with blonde hair - play in the valley whenever they went there, and nothing bad ever happened, after all that was a part of their property.
one day the child was found missing from their house, and almost everyone went out to try and find her.
there was talk of a man that may have stole the girl and ran to the Valley. but all the search made came to nothing. the girl, and supposed man never surfaced.
what was terrible about this is that something very horrible must've fallen upon that little girl, because since that day many people have seen her in the middle of the night, roaming the Valley of Angels, almost calling you. but people always seem to start running away screaming their lungs out.

some other stories were about a woman that was going to get married in a old house and on the day of her wedding she found a dead crow with a long pin thrust ed into his chest with a small piece of paper with the name of the groom on it.
that same night the groom dropped dead.
another story was the strange house where the movie "The Ninth Gate" that was partly filmed with our gorgeous Johnny Depp, called The House of the Witches, due to its very high roof tops in black that resemble the hats of old time witches. the man that lived there supposedly had the real book talked about in the movie, written by the Devil himself.
the reality differs from the movie (and a bit from the book, which I'm currently reading) this book was the sole creation of the horned god and no one else.

there were many more stories, but now... one of my own that I really want to share.
me and Skav went on the haunted tour with four more friends. we had our laughs and scares, and had a lovely night together. our friends were parked in the center of Sintra and we were parked fairly close to the House of Faun, so we said we would give them a little lift to their car.
now the math, pay attention:
we were 3 girls and 3 boys in the car, meaning 6 people in total.
we went on Skav's car talking and laughing, the usual.
at exactly 3:36 the radio of the car went from OFF to ON, on its own, in full blast.
I just let out a scream in disbelief...
everyone inside that car could not deny what we had just witenessed.

how about that, for the end of an haunted tour?

new Book galore - Not for under 18

I've been buying books more often than I should, but I can honestly say that I'm much more money conscious.
if I pay close attention to my expenditures I can actually get more out of my money rather than making loads of impulse buys.
this makes me happy, because I love me some books!

*Deviant Desires - book fair/ HR Giger - book fair/ The Art of Taxidermy - Birthday present from my Skav*

although I mainly buy books exclusively to read, I have recently broad my search options to these type of imagery books, but they tend to be a bit more pricey due to the type of paper required for the images.
fortunately my saving tactics have allowed me to acquire books of this sort.
there's a really big one about Dalí that I have my eye on...
soon.
here are some images of HR Giger:

*these are actually sketches and prototypes for the movie "Kondom des Grauens" I recommend watching this awfully good horror comedy*

this book is chock-full of paintings, sketches, and even photos of his bar.
too bad it doesn't have a drawing I replicated when I was in high school in Arts.

next we have The Art of Taxidermy:

*I want a cabinet just like that!*

 *contemporary taxidermy art*

*more contemporary taxidermy art*

*photo from the 50's of a class of taxidermy bunnies*

*even more taxidermy contemporary art*

next we have Deviant Desires:
this is the pony play fetish, I just became *in love* with this fetish, because you have so many little props you can use in order to find your inner Equus!

*I am so in love with these shoes*

I think the whole ambiance surrounding these girls and boys that are an inter-breed between man and horse are just magical and beautiful.
and this is the Crush fetish.

this is the federism fetish.

I find this fetish one of the cutest;
the Furry fetish.

I find interesting that a person can look beyond the one dimension where cartoons live and see them in adult situations, even having all kinds of different sexual events.
everything on this planet has sex in order to continue it's species; hell even my cute guinea pigs had loads of cute fluffy sex in order to have their little babies (see older post for Davey Jones family picture).
so why can't these cartoons have the same?

my Skav is an artist that will make your furry dreams came true on paper.
he draws your every want if you commission it, he even made my own furry! (see older posts).

now, for something completely different and yet very close to my heart;
cookery books!

*1000 Sabore do Mundo - book fair/ DK Sushi - Fnac/ DK Chinese Classic Cuisine - Fnac*

I guess that by now, if you've been reading my blog for a while you have already noticed that I'm a sucker for all things food.
my Skav even says that I'm a certified Foodie.

buying cookery books is one of the most pleasurable things for me, because it's such an interactive purchase.
I earn to do things with my hands, and I can honestly say that cooking for me is very therapeutic.
every time I feel a bit under the weather, unnerved, mentally exhausted or just plain bored, all I have to do is grab a wooden spoon and a pot, and my mind just floats into bliss.

this is the DK Sushi, it's part of a collection I would love to complete.

thank to this pretty I can now to gorgeous looking sushi and sashimi.
the bad news is that it's very time consuming for someone who isn't a 57 year old japanese man with his own sushi bar.
meaning; practice makes perfect!

and this is the DK Chinese Classic Cuisine (also part of the collection):

*the first recipe of this book I made: Sweet & Sour pork*

for a bit of light reading I got these cute books:

*The Brothers Grimm - Complete Fairy Tales - Christmas present from my Skav/ Mulheres do Outro Mundo - Fnac/ The Political History of the Devil - book fair*

I'm a huge fan of the Grimm tales, they were such a big part of my childhood without me even knowing.
my grandmother had these really old books from when she was a child, with many drawings and little writing, that I would read compulsively.
many years later I used the awesome powers of the interwebs to try and find out the stories I once loved dearly:
"how was it again...? a donkey that spat out golden coins... a man saying he killed 7 in one blow..."

they were Grimm's Stories.

the one with the mermaid on the cover is from a scholar of my university and it's a collection as well, he basically studies and analyses the old fairy tales in order to discover stuff about ourselves as individuals, collective fears and our cultural beliefs.

and finally, the Devil.
I haven't yet started on that one, because I'm currently reading 4 books at the same time, and a recent purchase in Spanish has taken up the last slot.
I'll make a post about that later on, with some very scholarly news!

ah, books.
how I love them.

p.s - all the books are presented in their original names (I much prefer to read them in their original language when possible) for your searching pleasure!

xoxo

I know, let's have a Dinner party!

some of the best parts of being a young adult is that you can throw dinner parties but still get shit faced.
I'm so sad I completely forgot to take pictures of the table when it was set with all the goodies.
I guess you'll have to settle with the dessert table.
oh well!

*after a lovely dinner made by yours truly*

I really hope that in Norway people will like to do this type of stuff.
actually my books talk about this and it seems that if (and that's a big if) a norwegian couple invites you to their home, it's because they really, really like you, otherwise you'll never see their new kitchen set!

*one of the desserts, vanilla cream pie with strawberries & kiwi*

I must say I thoroughly enjoy being a hostess.
I just love seeing everyone happy enjoying a good homemade meal and knowing that I could give them that happiness.
it's a warm feeling indeed.

the menu was:
prosciutto filled palmier, green olives stuffed with peppers, goat cheeses and pickled cornichons for starters
classic Italian lasagna for the main course
and strawberry salad, vanilla cream pie with strawberries & kiwi, and coffee cake for dessert

all of the above (to the exception of the coffee cake brought by lovely Raquel) was made from scratch by me, including doughs and sauces that people usually like to buy already made, but I enjoy it much more when I do everything!
yes, you got me... I love cooking!!

it was a lovely night spent with lovely people.
I can't wait for a repeat.

cute little sprinkles of Stardust in my eyes

these photos were taken during long walks after classes.
you can see I have a thing about display windows...
we not be able to buy it all, but we can sure as rain see it all.
